I got this code from the XML portfolio tutorial and use it all the time. Works good. But just for my own curiousity why are all the 'Success' arguments needed? The function wouldn' be called until it is properly loaded anyway right? (i.e. onLoad automatically checks this?). And why the second 'success' with the if statement. Just trying to understand.. I am referring to filters to protect your lens. I just purchased a Canon 100-400 and ordered a UV for the end. In talking to a relative about my purchase (he's an avid bird photographer)was ask why I would want to use a filter as they tend to block a certain amount of light entering the lens. When doing some reading I realized that depending on the filter you buy you could be losing up to 7% of the available light. I tend to use a filter on all of my lenses for the protection that they offer. How bout everyone else ? Do you have a filter on your lenses ? I carry my camera in the mountains/backcountry on multi-day hikes or climbs. I really only want to carry one lens, so I need one that is fairly versatile. Right now, I have the 18 - 70mm kit lens, but I need one with more zoom. I was originally thinking about buying 70-300mm, but then I would have to carry two lens. So now I'm thinking that a 18-200mm would fit the bill and would give me nearly the zoom I'm looking for, but also the wide-angle ability of 18mm. Any thoughts or suggestions on my thought process or what would be the best lens to fit my needs? Thanks for the help. Also don't tell me its bad for sucking in water Water doesn't penetrate the soil very well, roots can't breath, and no nutrients. It needs to have lime mixed in with it to have any success at all. I built huge flower boxes on top of the clay and filled them with top soil about 10 years ago and have had very good luck with my plants every year.many clay soils are well endowed with nutrients....but plant's can't use them because many times the clay is acidic....or it's too wet or it's dry or it's coated the roots so they can't breathe right.... all kinds of bad attached to clay... but mix a little compost in there with it... n...... - 2009-07-03
